The 2023 Coldwell Banker Commercial® Global Conference was an incredible event where attendees had the chance to brush up on their commercial real estate knowledge and skills, brush elbows with professionals from all over the country, and have some fun, too. X CBC professionals and guests attended the three-day conference in Chicago’s Swissotel Hotel from March 28-30, 2023. The conference featured world-class industry and CBC speakers, learning breakout sessions, networking opportunities and more.

Below are the highlights of this year’s event in Chicago:

General Session Speakers

The Global Conference General Sessions were a wealth of knowledge where Coldwell Banker Commercial leaders shared brand updates and focused on Coldwell Banker Commercial’s growth through the lens of momentum.

Dan Spiegel, Coldwell Banker Commercial SVP and Managing Director, was first to take the stage where he welcomed attendees and provided an update on the brand’s strategic growth, including examples from Coldwell Banker Commercial’s past, present and future. One key point that Dan shared was that Coldwell Banker Commercial’s LinkedIn followers increased 25% in the past year, which far outpaced competitors in the space. Dan mentioned that LinkedIn is an ideal forum in which team members can create community and congratulate each other’s wins.

David Marine, Coldwell Banker Commercial Chief Marketing Officer, themed his speech around momentum. Given the Chicago backdrop, he referenced Michael Jordan’s meteoric rise within the Chicago Bulls. Similar to Michael Jordan, CBC has been on an exciting upward trajectory with its marketing efforts in the past year, with a 58 percent increase in PR impressions, 78 percent increase in podcast plays and 1,653 percent increase in video views! This talk of momentum was the perfect segway into the company’s most significant marketing milestone for 2023: the upcoming launch of the new CBCWorldwide.com site. David called the new website a “tipping point where our digital storefront becomes the best representation of what we know the CBC brand to be.” The new site will feature updated design, new features and will be centered around the broker. David shared a preview of the site, walking the crowd through the new look and feel and demonstrating key features such as the Property Search, Listing Detail, and Inquiries and Leads. The new site will launch in mid-April and all CBC professionals and clients will have access to its state-of-the-art features.

Industry speakers next took the stage. Dan WeismanDirector of Emerging Technology at the National Association of REALTORS®, shared his perspective on new and emerging technology in commercial real estate, while KC Conway, Chief Economist for CCIM and Principal of Red Show Economics, provided an economic review and insights into the current state of the commercial real estate market.

During the General Session on Wednesday, Coldwell Banker Commercial leaders announced and recognized the 2022 Coldwell Banker Commercial Nomination Award winners. The show closed out with Global Conference keynote speaker, Nikki Greenberg, a world-leading futurist, who spoke about how to prepare for the next cohort of investors, Gen Z, artificial intelligence, and other trends impacting commercial real estate.

Learning Breakout Sessions
One of the hallmarks of Global Conference each year is the abundance of learning opportunities. This year was no exception, with almost 20 different topics to choose from, including business growth, products, research, marketing, and more.

One standout session was the What Moves Her: Power Producers panel. What Moves Her was introduced in 2020 to help women in the real estate industry develop their leadership skills and realize their professional development goals. Hosted by Christina Balas, this session featured a panel of top female producers at CBC to explain how they found success and how they’ll continue that momentum this year.

Networking Opportunities
As always, Global Conference offered many opportunities for professionals to come together and network. Between networking mealsmeetupsspecialty group sessions, and the evening reception, professionals had the chance to share their knowledge with their peers and make new connections to broker future deals.

Add-On Experiences
Global Conference attendees had the opportunity to experience all that the city of Chicago had to offer, including the top sites to visit and awesome dining options. Along with this, the Coldwell Banker Commercial team curated a list of optional add-on experiences related to commercial real estate, including an architecture tour, a historic walking tour hosted by our very own Dan Spiegel, and more. These events were well attended and got rave reviews!

We hope to see you at a Coldwell Banker Commercial event soon!
